In the morning, I had to do some boring but necessary things like laundry and grocery shopping, but I always enjoy walking around the grocery store and discovering new things to try, usually some sort of fun drink, and I got a Coke Zero with lemon flavor (lemon flavor was barely there). I worked on my presentation with Jessica, which was on a super interesting topic, the Vestal Virgins! We then ventured out to a flea market that we have had out eye on and is only open on Sundays. We got some yummy pizza on the way, spicy salami, and I do get the appeal of the thin crust and it being eaten with a fork and knife, but I miss the NYC pizza with some more substance to it. The flea market was full of interesting things and old clothes, which I did not purchase, but enjoyed browsing. Seeing what each person was selling gives some insight into what kind of person they are or were. I generally love thrifting, so this was super fun, and they had cool antique trinkets like pill boxes, bottle openers, and grape stem scissors, among others! It was, however, extremely hot, and the vendors were packing up. We met a cute, playful dog, and saw a super interesting building side that had a medieval column randomly found when cleaning a building, which is just something normal that happened here in Rome. Walked some more and then reached our goal of the Villa Borghese from Saturday, which technically means it took us like 24 hours to get there. Super worth it and a beautiful place, I especially liked the ducks and turtles. The summer concert still going on in the Piazza del Popolo made the walk back fun. Then a self-made dinner and a much needed rest!
