Pisa

This is a late post, though, I think it must be shared! Last week we were able to explore so many places! We started off the trip going to Pisa where we saw the leaning tower. I remember when I first saw this building in a movie and I asked my mom if it was real. I could not comprehend that this was even possible. At the time, it defied gravity and made it a miracle. After my mom explained the history behind the Pisa tower I was a bit disappointed because it–the tower–lost a bit of its mysticism. Anyways, when we got to the tower it was packed. People were all fighting for a spot to take a picture with the tower. My favorite part of this trip was how everyone wanted to take some iconic pictures. For example some acted like they were pushing the tower, while others were karate kicking it. This was great!

Florence

I did not enjoy Florence. I am unsure why but it just was not my scene. I think it was a mix of extremely hot weather and a LOT of people. We did however get to go into their famous Church. Inside was beautiful, though most of the church was closed off from the public. The best thing about this church was that we were the last people allowed in. We saw hundreds of people try to sneak onto the line, but the security guards had to remove them. We also saw the Four Tetrarchs which was great because I remember seeing them on one of the slides in Prof. Sowers’ class. It’s amazing to see things that we learn about in person. This is one of the strongpoints of this church.

Venice

Venice was amazing. It is so difficult to get around, but that’s what makes it so great. The architecture of the buildings in Venice is something out of this world and the way the streets intertwin and get lost in themselves is just as interesting. My favorite part about Venice has to be the Gondola ride that Jibriel and I went on. We went through the city from canal to canal and this was an experience to be remembered for the rest of our lives.

Did you get a picture from far back with everyone just like sticking their hands out or doing random poses? I feel like out of context that would look funny. The gondola looks so nice! I wonder what it’s like for the people born and raised there to visit cities with cars. I’m happy to read that you accomplished all the ambitious plans you set out to do!

A trip like this in such a short amount of time is insane, I really commend you for completing it! I kind of felt the same way about Florence, it felt like a bootleg Rome that was more crowded and smelled bad lol. I can imagine how magical Venice was, especially a gondola ride!
