This weekend was surprisingly eventful and fun! We started off in Naples then went to Sorrento and some people went to Capri. We had plans to go to Positano but it was far away from where we currently were. For our first 2 nights, we stayed close to Naples where our air bnb was at the top of this long, winding, hill. Safe to say when we entered our room we were exhausted. I remember sitting down for five minutes going to the other room and seeing Jibriel enjoying a long needed nap. I was arguing with myself if I should wake him up or not, but I ended up letting him get a comfortable rest.
The next day came around quickly and I was invited by the group to go to Capri for a day out on the beach. I had to decline and take a Moussa day, which usually involves reading and TRYING to write–this time I was focused on my Marcus Aurelius project! It is hard to write sometimes, especially when there is so much information about such a niche topic. I know that niche and information overload don’t usually mix, but in this case they do. My trick is to write everything down by pencil and paper, and only then do I take that and transfer it onto a google docs. This time I could not write on paper so I was a bit thrown off of my game, but we must adapt! This for me is one of the strengths that humans possess. During my session I got hungry and decided to go out to a supermarket across the street where I got some snacks and some fruits!
I had a really fun time talking with some of the people on this class trip. In particular I had fun talking to: Jibriel, Jessica, Rachel and Joe–though Joe had to depart earlier than the rest of us so our communication was minimal in comparison. I have been closest with Jibriel throughout this trip, but I told myself that I would have to step out of my comfort zone and get to know more people. That is why I tried my best to make friends with Jessica and Rachel! It was fun. I also thank them for letting me spew rhetoric and my opinions without becoming judgmental of who I am!!!
Moving on (more writing below these images)…
The next day I was invited to go to the beach. As for this trip, I did a lot of beach sitting, which I have no problem with. Jibriel, Jessica, and Rachel told me to sit and stay with their bags while they went out to have fun. I know that the prior sentence sounds bad, but I genuinely enjoy just sitting around and reading while people go out and swim. Also, they tried to get me to go in but I refused, so they are actually very nice for keeping me in mind. When everything was said and done we got hungry and walked up to this cool “hippyish” resort! We stayed there for about 30 minutes so that some of us could change out of swimwear. During this time some of us went into these cool hammocks and just chilled. Jessica, Jibriel, and Rachel seemed to have taken a nap in them. After, we went to get some food and went over to Casa Orange (girl’s place) and played some cards with Jessica and Rachel. Jibriel, was worried about booking the Air bnb so he passed on the game (will talk about this later). I personally enjoyed the card game as it loosely reminds me of a Bulgarian card game that I play all the time with my family.
Before our excursion over the weekend Jibriel booked a shared hostel for both of us “unknowingly” (joke) which neither of us wanted to stay in. We decided to wing it and just get an air bnb when we had the time. A few hours before nighttime Jibriel and I booked an air bnb and stayed the night! We went out to eat because the girls found a very cool spot to eat, I believe it was Vietnamese. It was an enjoyable experience.
After finishing, Jibriel and I went to the air bnb and went to bed. The next morning we tried getting our money back from the hostel but it did not work out.
The day we were supposed to go back to Rome was another beach sitting day. Jibriel wanted to tan and so off to the beach we went. I sat with our items and worked on my project for a few hours until it was time to go!
We got back to Rome safe and sound!
There are more pictures of this fun trip but the other people have them.
I am glad that I made new friends on this trip!
