Weekend frenzy (800 Worder!)

This weekend was so busy but honestly was so much fun. This long weekend I went up north and enjoyed three interesting cities. This all started right after our trip to Ladispoli-Cervetri. After the long headache fiasco with the train and bus regarding the return to Rome. I went back to my apartment to quickly grab my pre packed bag and headed to the termini train station. On my way to the train I stopped by a local mini market and grabbed my favorite juice, yoga brand pineapple juice. I ended up running a little late and did become a little nervous about coming late to the station as I have always heard of how prompt and on time trains are in Europe. I had a little experience with it on my Euro trip when I took the train from Prague to Vienna. When I took this train, I remember the fact that the train took off right as the time hit 6:30 PM. The train was hectic as nobody understood where their seats were but we ended up figuring out our seat. The train was a nice peaceful ride during sunset over a picturesque scene. I liked listening to old folk songs whilst looking out and brooding because it made me feel like a cowboy out during the wild west. We arrived to Florence around 9 pm and straight away headed to the hotel which was a mere 12 minute walk from the train station. The walk was nice and the neighborhood kind of felt like the neighborhood that surrounds the Roma Termini area. After getting to the hotel and dropping off our stuff, and freshening up myself, we headed to dinner at a nice local trattoria. The whole time we were looking for places to eat, the only thing I had on my mind was having a traditional Florentine Steak. The local delicacy of Florentine steak is a thick cut T bone steak thats cooked rare. It was delicious and everything I had wanted as I am a huge fan of steak and this lived up to my dream. We then got delicious gelato at this little gelateria near the Duomo called Il Baroccinno and walked to the arch. All this walking after a full day of classes fully did us in so we ended heading back to the hotel. The next day we woke up extra early and walked around. Seeing the duomo , Basilica di Santa Croce di Firenze, and the palazzo vecchio. Once we felt famished enough we went to a breakfast spot that we found on tik tok, the new reviewer where everyone is a Roger Ebert. The breakfast was fine but a bit pricey which I guess is natural for place that we found on tik tok. This breakfast was followed by a full day of shopping. Between the various leather shops and different clothing shops, I can comfortably say that my wallet was terrified. This was all done over a day that ended at around 6 pm. From there we returned to the hotel to grab our bags and head to the train station.

This was to catch the train to Venice where we ended up spending the night before enjoying the following day in the city of Venice. The city itself is so gorgeous and genuinely one of the prettiest sights. Growing up playing Counter Strike, it was nice seeing the place I saw in video games now in real life.

We then enjoyed a nice walk about before getting a slice of hot za for the road. Here in Italy they have this thing where they like to cut the pizza with scissors and do not have slices but they ask how much of the pizza would you like? Either way we then moved on to the city of Milan, the fashion capital of the world. The feeling upon entering Milan was a bit underwhelming. The dark gritty vibe of the city was not what I expected from the city of fashion. Still I did like the city a little, more specifically the Duomo Di Milano and the Sporza Castle which I was really fascinated by. We then stopped by an amazing pizza chain called Spontini and it was no joke one of the best pizza’s I have had here.

I also got to experience one of my dreams which was to see the San Siro stadium, the home of both Inter and A.C Milan. I always played Fifa with my brother and growing up I would always see the stadium from the outside either while watching the Uefa Champions League or whilst playing Fifa.

The one thing I was not a fan of Vittorio Emmanuele II Galleria. This is just because I felt it was so gaudy and such an extravagant display of capitalism. The stores, the people, the noise, and just the overall yuckiness of it was completely overstimulating. I did however like the artwork at the top of the buildings and did appreciate the shade the structure provided me.
